Research Initiatives
Part of IGOT’s mission is to analyze the determinants of inequity in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions amongst underserved populations with the goal to develop recommendations and strategic action plans that will decrease these inequities. IGOT is reaching this goal by establishing Research Initiatives internationally with established medical schools, and locally amongst our medical students and orthopaedic residents. These initiatives have sparked collaborative research projects that are exploring the various determinants of; inequity in regards to musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, the burden of orthopaedic and traumatic related injuries in resource constrained settings and capacity building measures for furthering education and training in the field.
